If you have never heard of neurofeedback, the idea can sound complicated. The basic concept is surprisingly simple.

Neurofeedback uses EEG technology to observe aspects of brain activity and provide feedback to the brain in real time. Through repeated training, the brain is given opportunities to practice changing patterns of activity.

Think of it less like someone “doing something to your brain” and more like giving your brain information about what it is doing.

Researchers have demonstrated that people can learn to modify particular EEG activity through neurofeedback training, although what those changes mean clinically depends on the protocol and condition being studied. (PubMed)

At Phoenix, we believe neurofeedback should be individualized and carefully monitored rather than approached as a one-size-fits-all intervention.
