Culturally Responsive Therapy
You Should Not Have to Leave Your Culture Outside the Therapy Room
Culture influences how we understand family, relationships, emotion, trauma, spirituality, responsibility, success, identity, and healing.
Rather than assuming one therapeutic model fits everyone, we remain curious about the social, cultural, family, racial, spiritual, and community experiences that have shaped you.
Research examining culturally adapted psychotherapy supports the importance of considering cultural context in mental health treatment. Randomized studies have found promising outcomes from culturally adapted CBT in specific populations, including refugees and individuals experiencing trauma. (PubMed)
At Phoenix, difference is not something we work around. It is something we respect and understand.
